Ranking: This school is widely perceived as a “top 14” law school. In fact, Pussy Bob Morse, of US “News” & World Report, rates them as the 14th best law school, in the United States. Due to its gigantic class sizes and CSO “placement,” this school is still a trash can.

Supposed Employment Placement and Starting Salary Statistics: The first tier toilet claims that 96% of its JD Class of 2010 - a cohort with 647 members - was employed within nine months of graduation. According to this document, the Georgetown University Law Cesspool awarded 678 law degrees in 2009, while the commode pumped out 645 grads in 2008. Would a truly elite institution produce such an annual GLUT of law graduates each year?!?!

By the way, the school notes that 317 members of the Class of 2010 ended up in private law firms. This represents 51.04% of employed grads - and 48.995 percent of the entire class. Regarding salary, note that the trash heap received responses from a mere 45.1% of those working in the public sector, from the Class of 2010. The median figure listed is $55,929. Try repaying your MASSIVE student loans and putting food in the fridge on such an income.

Take a look at this excerpt from David Segal’s ass-kicking, January 8, 2011 piece for the New York Times, entitled “Is Law School a Losing Game?”:

“A number of law schools hire their own graduates, some in hourly temp jobs that, as it turns out, coincide with the magical date. Last year, for instance, Georgetown Law sent an e-mail to alums who were “still seeking employment.” It announced three newly created jobs in admissions, paying $20 an hour. The jobs just happened to start on Feb. 1 and lasted six weeks. 

A spokeswoman for the school said that none of these grads were counted as “employed” as a result of these hourly jobs. In a lengthy exchange of e-mails and calls, several different explanations were offered, the oddest of which came from Gihan Fernando, the assistant dean of career services. He said in an interview that Georgetown Law had “lost track” of two of the three alums, even though they were working at the very institution that was looking for them.” [Emphasis mine]

Average Law Student Indebtedness: According to USN&WR, the average law student indebtedness - for those members of the Georgetown JD Class of 2010 who incurred debt for their law degree - was $122,319. As you can see from page 1 of this 2010 Form 990, The President and Directors of Georgetown College for Georgetown, i.e. Employer ID 53-0196603, doing business as Georgetown University raked in $1,074,765,328 in total revenue - for the tax year ending June 30, 2010. Who says that “higher education: doesn’t off handsomely?!?!

Head over to page 39 of this tax document. All figures pertain to the tax year cited above. You will notice that John J. DeGioia made $911,918 in TOTAL COMPENSATION, as “president” of The President and Directors of Georgetown College for Georgetown University. Thomas Alexander Aleinikoff, then-dean and “executive vice president for Law Center Affairs,” rolled around in $449.509 in TOTAL COMPENSATION. Judith Areen, “Paul Regis Dean professor of law,” took in $339,994 in TOTAL COMPENSATION.  

Conclusion: This school is an overpriced sewer pit that straps its NUMEROUS law students and recent JDs down with a mountain of NON-DISCHARGEABLE debt. Good luck trying to purchase a home, with $125K-$180K in student loan debt. By the way, if you attend this dung pit, then you likely attended an “elite” and expensive undergrad institution. While several graduates apparently end up in Biglaw positions, how many will stay in those firms 5-10 years from now? How many of these associates become partners? Most will quickly burn out from the workload - and many others will be tossed aside, when they fail to bring in an ass-load of business.

Average Law Student Indebtedness: US “News” lists the average law student indebtedness - for Francis King Carey JDs from the Class of 2010 who incurred law school debt - as $83,693. “Karen H. Rothenberg, former dean of the University of Maryland School of Law, was the administrator who received $410,000 in what a state legislative audit called "questionable compensation payments," according to university payroll records.

The routine audit of the University of Maryland, Baltimore says that in fiscal 2007, a high-ranking administrator received four payments totaling $350,000 for sabbatical time that was apparently never taken. The payments, approved by UMB President David Ramsay, came on top of a $360,000 salary.” [Emphasis mine]

Tuition: Full-time GWU law students will be slammed with a tuition bill of $45,750 - for the 2011-2012 school year. Part-time law students at this trash heap will only be charged $1,608.50 per credit hour, for the 2011-2012 academic year. Imagine the salary that one would need to earn, for a mere chance at a positive return on their “investment.”

Total Cost of Attendance: According to this same document, full-time students will face an additional $28,650 in living costs, miscellaneous expenses, books and fees. As such, the commode listed the total COA - for 2011-2012 - as $74,400.

Keep in mind that these bitches and hags only consider nine month living expenses. Counting twelve month costs for room and board, personal expenses and transportation, we reach a more accurate, total COA of $82,637 -for 2011-2012. This is an ungodly, outrageous figure.

Supposed Employment and Starting Salary Statistics: The school infers that 94.53% of its Class of 2010 was employed within nine months of earning their degree. Out of this class, a total of 14 JDs from this “top 20” law school felt the need to pursue another graduate degree. That should set off a few alarm bells. The commode also lists the overall mean starting salary - for 2010 grads who found full-time employment - as $127,567. The mean listed for those working as judicial clerks is $53,117. For $ome rea$on, the school does not include info from those working part-time.

Based on this document, this toilet pumped out 512 graduates in 2010, 556 for the Class of 2009, and awarded 529 JDs in 2008. Keep in mind that there are SEVEN law schools, in Washington, D.C.  According to this July 27, 2011 blog entry, in the New York Times Economix blog - with info compiled by Economic Modeling Specialists Inc. - Maryland has the ninth most glutted legal job market, and Virginia is 17th most over-saturated. Good luck competing in those cut-throat markets.

Faculty and Administrator Salary Data: Take a look at George WaShington Univer$ity’s 2010 IRS Form 990. Head to page 59 of this tax document, to see how much the pigs/”educators” are making. You will note that Frederick M. Lawrence, then-dean of the law sewer, raked in $501,154 in TOTAL COMPENSATION, for the tax year ending June 30, 2010.  Steven Knapp “earned” $1,053,636 in TOTAL COMPENSATION, for the same tax year - as “president” of the univer$ity.

You may believe that you are going to make a Biglaw salary, which will enable you to pay off $115K-$165K in student debt. The school purports to provide its students with an excellent chance to earn a great salary, upon graduation. On April 20, 2011, Karen Sloan authored a piece for the National Law Journal, under the headline “Legal scholarship carries a high price tag.” Here is a sampling:

“What is the total cost of a law review article written by a tenured professor at a top-flight law school?

It's in the neighborhood of $100,000, according to Hofstra University School of Law professor Richard Neumann. His estimate factors in the salary and benefits for a tenured professor at a high-paying school who spends between 30% and 50% of his or her time on scholarship and publishes one article per year.” [Emphasis mine]

After seeing a list of his “scholarly” articles, on his curriculum vitae, I can see why Buchanan wants to keep this system running.

Conclusion: Apparently, this pig is not concerned with how the GLUT of attorneys is affecting current law students, recent graduates and the public. He only sees this issue” from the institution’s viewpoint. Neil H. Buchanan is simply trying to sell others on the alleged “benefits” of a law degree. Now, one school is offering some students an extra semester — for free — if they agree to postpone taking the bar exam until February, instead of the usual July test. The City University of New York School of Law offered “a handful” of students a grant in the fall if they agree to sit for the bar exam in February 2013 instead of this summer, the New York Post reported.

The school’s pass rates for students sitting for the bar for first time fell to 67% last year, below a statewide average of 86%, the Post noted. Sanctions from the Bar Association could be implemented if schools have consecutive years with pass rates below 75%” [Emphasis mine]

Sophia Pearson and Phil Milford covered this development, for Bloomberg, in a February 1, 2011 article labeled “New York, Chicago Law Schools Among Group Sued by Graduates Over Job Data”:

“The DePaul complaint, filed at the Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago, accuses the law school of engaging in “Enron- style” accounting techniques to manipulate its employment statistics.


“Far from giving their graduates ‘a competitive edge,’ and placing them in good, secure, well-paying jobs,” its eight suing former students alleged, “DePaul consigns the majority of them to years of indentured servitude, saddling them with tens of thousands of dollars in crushing, non-dischargeable debt that will literally take decades to pay off.” [Emphasis mine]

Does that language sound familiar?!?! Anyone can see that this was lifted from several sources, such as Cryn Johannsen, several scam-bloggers, and other student debtor advocates. Before the law schools cringe at someone accusing them of employing Enron standards, take a look at this quote from Indiana University-Bloomington “law professor” William Henderson - before he tucked his nuts in and starting clucking:

“Enron-type accounting standards have become the norm,” says William Henderson of Indiana University, one of many exasperated law professors who are asking the American Bar Association to overhaul the way law schools assess themselves. “Every time I look at this data, I feel dirty.” [Emphasis mine]

“In a statement, Albany Law School Dean Connie Mayer said students are “well aware of the realities of today’s economy and we believe the information we provide during the admission process does not mislead our applicants, nor differ in standards of reporting from any other law school the applicant may have considered.”

How convenient of you to place the blame entirely on the law students, in defending your commode’s practices. Yeah, sure your data is accurate - and Sofia Vergara just locked her ankles around my waist, and dug her nails into my back.

From the Martha Neil piece for the ABA Journal, under the headline “12 More Law Schools Sued Over Reporting of Law Grad Employment and Salary Stats”:

“Leslie Steinberg, associate dean for public affairs at defendant Southwestern Law School told National Law Journal that the school stands by the employment data it has posted on its website and submitted to both the American Bar Association and U.S. News & World Report.”

What a "courageous" stand, huh?!?!

Conclusion: In the final analysis, this is not the end of the law school scam. With less morons registering with LSAC and applying to law school, I expect to see the diploma mills lower their admissions standards. However, these business enterprises - regardless of whether they are “non-profit,” for-profit, “private” or public - care about their reputations. “Law professors,” administrators, and apologist cockroaches KNOW that they mislead prospective law students, through their published statistics. They are now defending the indefensible. The pigs have no case and no argument. As Paul Campos, author of the blog “Inside the Law School Scam” once told me, “Buyer beware does not mean that you get to lie.”

Lastly, if you are an unemployed or marginally employed graduate from the JD Class of 2011, you have a moral obligation to report your status and pathetic income to your law school. Complete that graduate survey, in a honest manner. If you are making $12 an hour at Target - and have not yet provided your data to your toilet - then swallow a little pride, and provide that data to the school. Unless, of course, you feel that your temporary embarrassment is more important than helping others avoid student debt hell. Would you prefer that these pigs, rats and cockroaches continue to make fat salaries - on the backs of debt-strapped students?!  For good measure, send a copy to your senator.
